- May 1st - PTO Meeting TEACHER APPRECIATION DAY We have set aside Wednesday, May 8th to thank our teachers for their hard work and dedication throughout the year on behalf of our children. Guiding and molding our future is a daunting task, and our teachers take their work very seriously. Help show your appreciation at our annual Teacher Appreciation Luncheon. We will need volunteers to send food, help set up, to do cafeteria and recess duty, and to clean up. FIFTH GRADE RECEPTION Fifth graders will celebrate their right of passage with a moving-up ceremony on Friday, May 17th at 2:00 pm. They will also receive their academic awards at that time. Family and friends are reminded to bring their cameras. Refreshments will be served. SNOW CONES The
PTO will be serving one FREE snow cone at Super Kids Day (in a special cup)
for each Lexington Elementary student, as a way of saying thanks for a great
year!
SUPER KIDS DAY T-SHIRTS We have brightly colored Super Kids Day t-shirts available for $7.50 in youth through adult XL sizes. Adult size 2X are $8.50, 3X for $10.00 and 4X for $12.00. This is an unused bad weather day. The Lexington PTO and your Elementary School staff, wishes you all a happy, safe and productive summer. Many thanks to all who volunteered this year. Remember, you make it happen for your children here at Lexington. PRE-K SUMMER CELEBRATION Please join us on May 17th for our Summer Celebration, when the Pre-K class will present a program for parents and family members. The morning class will have their celebration at 10 am and the afternoon class will be celebrating at 2 pm. Refreshments will be served. LUNCH ACCOUNTS Please note that there will be no more "charging" on student lunch accounts after May 1st. All students must have their lunch accounts up to date or report cards for that student will not be released at year end. HELP WANTED The PTO Concession Stand will be open all day on Super Kids Day, May 10th, selling pop, candy and pickles. We will need at least 4 adult volunteers in the concession stand at all times. Forms have been sent home for parents to sign up to help, or to volunteer you may call Carla Holasek (527-2496).
CANNED POP For all of our year-end activities, we'd like to collect as much pop as possible. Six-packs or cartons of your favorite flavor would be greatly appreciated. Please drop pop donations at the school as soon as possible. AWARDS ASSEMBLY Our last awards ceremony for the year will be Tuesday, May 14th in the cafeteria. Grades 1 and 2 will be honored at 8:30 am, and grades 3 and 4, at 9:25 am. Fifth graders will receive their awards at their reception. FOURTH GRADE RECEPTION Since our fourth graders will be moving into the new Intermediate building next year, we are commemorating this right of passage for them with a brief Fourth Grade Reception on Tuesday, May 14th at 2:00 pm. Parents and other family members are welcome to attend. Cake and punch will be served. If you would like to donate towards purchasing goodies for this event, or help with planning, please contact Tammy Coker or Susan Roberts. KINDERGARTEN GRADUATION Graduation ceremonies for this year's Kindergarten class will be held on Tuesday, May 21 at 9:00 am. Please send your child to school in his Sunday best and have them at the school by 8:45 am. Children will be dismissed for the school year after Graduation, and therefore will have no school on the 22nd. SUPER KIDS DAY May 10th is Super Kids Day! This is a PE Sports Day for Super Kids and it is a combination of track, field and fun events. Look for an informative flyer coming home with your child all about it. We will have new events this year! Each child will have a chance to compete in categories such as a Tennis Ball Carry, a Tug-o-War and a Frisbee Throw. Each child will have a card to carry with his events listed, and all children will receive ribbons for participation. PLEASE note that Mr. York will need LOTS of help in organizing these events, so if you can spare the time, please come and join us. First and second graders will be competing in events from 8:30 am until 10:30 am. Third, fourth and fifth graders will compete from 12:00 noon until 2:30 pm. THANK YOU MR GRIDER! The Lexington Elementary Student Council raised funds this year to purchase new playground equipment, including a soccer ball. Harry Grider, Head of Maintenance at the school, offered to put together a few soccer goals so that kids could actually play soccer games with real goal catches. Not only did he construct two very professional, functional goals, but he made them mobile so they kids could play virtually anywhere!
